Wonder Works Donates 7,000 Toys to MUSC Children’s Hospital

We are beyond ecstatic to share that as a result of of our Facebook Toy FunRaiser, we were able to donate 7,000 toys to benefit Happy Wheels, a cart that provides toys and books each Thursday to children receiving treatment at MUSC Children’s Hospital. We could not have accomplished this goal without the help of our incredible fans and community support; without you, none of this would have been possible!

December 1st-7th, 2010, we held a Week of Wonder led by 10-year-old Harper Drolet, a patient at the Hospital. For every new person that “liked” our Facebook page, Wonder Works donated a toy to Happy Wheels. We donated many of our own toys, and also contacted many generous toy companies that have provided toys to us for 22 years to make up the difference. Trucks started rolling in with product for Happy Wheels on March 29^th at our store in Mt. Pleasant, where we handed over loads of toys to MUSC representatives.

Jackie Shealy, Happy Wheels Executive Director said, “We’re so touched that the community got so involved in the Wonder Works Facebook FunRaiser. There are so many toys that we are now in need of a climate-controlled storage unit to store them. The kids look forward to Thursdays and just knowing we can give a toy away to every single child for the rest of this year is beyond words.  It means so much.”

We are committed to continue raising toys on our Facebook page throughout 2011.  For every new person that likes us this year, we will donate a toy to Happy Wheels.  Help us keep the magic going, so please spread the word!
