Q: How long have you worked at Wonder Works and what is your favorite part about your job?
Since I could start working, age 15. It will be 9 years this August. My favorite part of my job is helping pick out the coolest toys in Charleston and then watching kids get so excited about the new things we decided to carry in the stores. It is so much fun to play with all of the new items and have kids in Charleston really enjoy what we picked out!
Q: What makes Wonder Works unique and why should someone visit the store?
It’s a magical place. REALLY IT IS! Anyone of any age can come in and feel like a kid again! We really care about our customers and always want them to feel right at home when they are in the store.
Q: What is your favorite:
Toy – Plasma Car- Because all kids (including myself) love riding it around the store!
Gadget – Bucky Balls- They are PERFECT for the person who has everything! They are so different and so much fun!
Gift – Charleston Hooker- Also PERFECT for the person who has everything. They are handmade from materials from right here in the Lowcountry and work great to flip things on the grill!
Book – Sammy’s Last Week in Charleston- I love this book because I have a special Dachshund at home that looks just like Sammy. She even got to play Sammy with the author Jonathan Miller in a Magazine Shoot for Vineyard Vines.
Q: Tell us one of your favorite customer stories.
My favorite customer story happened a couple of years ago at Christmas time. We had a customer come in with her three boys and her husband. She secretly approached me and said that she had a friend tell her that we “do it big” at Wonder Works and knew that we helped The Elf on the Shelves find their proper homes and families. She wanted to know if we could introduce her boys to their new Elf on the Shelf. Once I found the Elf that was sent from the North Pole for this family, I jumped on the counter and yelled out for the trio of boys. They quickly came running and were so anxious to meet their new Elf. The sparkle in their eyes when they saw their Elf that was sent from the North Pole just for them made this story my favorite of all time.
